Thanks for your quick response. But I think this kind of usage is not friendly. For other famous video encoder, just set some rate control option to enable two pass option, and run encoder program once. X264 is so popular, why developers in this forum to implement this usage?

x264 encoder with ‘--pass 2' need infomation return from the first encode processing, if you want to call x264 execute program once to acheive the '--pass 2' , please change the encode flow and replace the read 'stats' info interface by yourself.

I'm think how to use two pass rate control in x264. The common usage is run x264 program with the options of '--pass 1' and '--stats', and then run x264 program again with the option of '--pass 2' to get final compressed h264 bitstream. The coding method is call x264 program twice.
 
How to call x264 program once and use two pass rate control?
