Hello,
I have a problem playing DVD-RW discs, libdvdcss mistakenly treats it as
scrambled and fails. Here is the output from current SVN version of VLC:
[pp at pldmachine vlc-trunk]$ DVDCSS_VERBOSE=2 ./vlc
VLC media player 0.9.0-svn Grishenko
libdvdnav: Using dvdnav version 0.1.10 from http://dvd.sf.net
libdvdread: Using libdvdcss version 1.2.9 for DVD access
libdvdcss debug: opening target `/dev/hdb'
libdvdcss debug: using libc for access
libdvdcss debug: disc is scrambled
libdvdcss debug: requesting AGID
libdvdcss debug: ioctl ReportAgid failed, invalidating AGID 0
libdvdcss debug: requesting AGID
libdvdcss debug: ioctl ReportAgid failed, invalidating AGID 1
libdvdcss debug: requesting AGID
libdvdcss debug: ioctl ReportAgid failed, invalidating AGID 2
libdvdcss debug: requesting AGID
libdvdcss debug: ioctl ReportAgid failed, invalidating AGID 3
libdvdcss debug: requesting AGID
libdvdcss error: ioctl ReportAgid failed, fatal
libdvdread: Could not open /dev/hdb with libdvdcss.
libdvdread: Can't open /dev/hdb for reading
libdvdnav: vm: faild to open/read the DVD
The disc isn't scrambled. I mastered it myself with dvdauthor and burned
with cdrecord. I thought it wasn't burned correctly, but it doesn't seem to
be the case. See this thread for more background on the case:
