In January 2025, the DVD FLLC dissolved and donated their DVD Format Books (DVD Specifications) to Japan's National Diet Library (https://www.ndl.go.jp/en/index.html <https://web.archive.org/web/20250315192952/https://www.ndl.go.jp/en/index.html>).
I have two general interest questions resulting from this:
1) Are there any parts of libdvdread or libdvdnav that are incomplete? I know that there are some issues with playback from copy protection. I also know that these libraries came from significant reverse engineering efforts, for which the Internet ought to be forever grateful. I'm curious if there are still parts of the libraries that are still 'best guesses' or hacks.
2) If the answer to (1) is Yes, then could someone visit the NDL in Tokyo, borrow the Books, and use them to fill in the gaps of our understanding of the DVD spec?
With thanks,
