The Irdeto encrypted channels are already available to us via satellite,
we want to cherrypick the channels off the satellite and make these
channels available to settop boxes on a LAN using videolan. The settop
boxes (and associated service subscription) would be responsible for
decryption, we would just be a data carrier.
I understand that videolan can do the job, but I cannot find any info on
videolan and encryption systems. So my question is: Can videolan be used
to cherrypick Irdeto encoded MPEG streams and multicast them in such a
way that a suitable Irdeto enabled settop box can decrypt and display
the signals?
Or does some special magic have to happen within videolan for encrypted
streams to be supported? (Note: videolan need not decode the streams,
just transport them.)

Amino have recommended either Optibase or Minerva products over
videolan, but have not explained why. I am still trying to get some
clear answers out of Irdeto, and I'm struggling.
I was hoping somebody on this list would know enough about the
encryption systems to give me an impartial answer.

Graham
