Not really. For instance WMP doesn't read MPEG PS out of the box so you'd 
rather use MPEG1-System but even then WMP won't be able to read this 
'live' (yeah WMP sucks ;).

If you want to stream to WMP clients, then the only option you've got when 
using VLC is to stream asf over mmsh.
