Hullo there.
I am still new at using videolan and would like to carry out some tests.I am requesting for some advice about my test.
I have installed and tested Vlc on windows and Vls on Linux. My test involved only streaming from a file stored locally on the server. I would like to test videolans performance incase of interactive video conferencing over the LAN using a simple setup.
Please inform me of all the hardware components and if possible their recommended specifications in order to carry out my tests. My guess is I need a webcam for video capture and a sound card for audio capture and a microphone.
Is there any other equipment I need?
Can any camera or webcam work for me?
Can I just use any sound card?
Do I need any special software or drivers to use any of the equipment if so which ones?
Usually can I just buy any camera or sound card and microphone and have them work for any conferencing (or streaming)software regardless of the compression formats they use?My main concern is about the hardware and the related compatibility issues.
Thanks a lot for your help.
Robert
