hi Dunsti,
http://www.videolan.org/doc/streaming-howto/en/ch05.html
explains the list of commands to configure VLC VOD server.
The technique is to start the VLC as a VOD server by command like :-
vlc --ttl 12 -vvv --color -I telnet --telnet-password videolan
--rtsp-host 0.0.0.0:5554
(this command is self explanatory)
Then you have to telnet to this vlc process using this command:-
telnet localhost 4212
and then use the commands as shows on the webpage.
