Hello,
I'm soon to stream a convention video/audio feed for several viewers.
The idea is to use an offsite (located an some ISP) server as relay
between the live source and the clients' browsers.
The setup will be of the sort:
[convention location encodes to h263/4] >> [dsl link] >> [isp dedicated
server running FreeBSD] >> [client isp] >> [client browser h263/4 video]
I think i will manage for the on "convention location" vlc configuration..
But regarding the FreeBSD dedicated server part i have more concerns..
I think VLC can be compiled without X11 installed if disabling a few
features; the port has have few usefull switches to allow custom builds;
I'm still playing with it.
I haven't seen any VLS port for FreeBSD, wondered if vls ever ran on
this platform..
But i don't think it will do some "relaying" of the live stream to other
clients (?) Not even sure it'll compile under FreeBSD (?)
In the past i did the same streaming with nsvtools & shoutcast, as
shoutcast run perfectly under FreeBSD..
I wonder what would be your advices or what your past experiences with
the mather were.
Best regards to everyone.
Rudolph.
