[streaming] incompatibitly for other players

hi 	
	im alan currently i using VLC player as a streaming server and player as well ,everything is working great but however when i tried to use winamp player to connect to the server using http it could not receive any streaming audio from the vlc server as for window media player it takes quite some time to establish connection between the vlc and the media player. why does vlc  
incompaitble to other media player ? please advise thank you
