Actually, the "LIVE555 Streaming Media" (aka. 'liveMedia') code
*does* support sending periodic RTSP "GET_PARAMETER" commands (using
the "RTSPClient::getMediaSessionParameter()" function).  However, it
does not do this automatically (because it's not the standard way for
clients to send a keep-alive; RTCP is the standard).

However, it would be straightforward to add this functionality to
VLC's (now anachronistically named) "livedotcom.cpp" code, which acts
as the interface between the LIVE555 code and the rest of VLC.
