[streaming] "n" (next) stuck on absent multicast channel

Besides using VLC as a streaming server, I am also using VLC as the client.
On the client, I start VLC like (or example): "vlc udp:@224.224.224.1
udp:@224.224.224.2 upd:@224.224.224.3" to be able to watch several
multicast channels as streamed out by the streaming server.
Now on the client I can use the "n"-key (next) on the keyboard to zap
through the 3 channels, and "p"-key (previous) to zap backwards.
However, whenever a multicast stream is (temporarily) absent, the
VLC-client gets stuck on that channel, and no longer responds to "n" or "p".
Why is this, and is there a workaround?
Z.
