[Translators] Vienamese Discussion about the issue of Dictatorship in Translation Project

(Sorry for top-posting, the discussion is rather long and 
dispersed over several posts)

General: Unfortunately there are sometimes quite harsh 
conflicts triggered by non-trivial things; in l10n-land 
people have very different cultural background, so 
misunderstandings can easily arise.

Anh Phan: The string 'About VLC for iOS' is probably a menu 
entry or a window title (I don't have access to an iOS 
device). So translating it as 'Dịch bởi Vietnamese 
Translation Software' is plain wrong, it breaks 
functionality UX-vise and would be misleading.
Now it looks like this issue has been resolved.

But I understand what you'd like to achieve; you probably 
want 'Dịch bởi Vietnamese Translation Software' to be 
displayed on the 'About'-tab under a 'Localization'-section.
Possibly you'd want this as a header preceding the names of 
those translators working under your umbrella.

Developers: In many institutions and corporations I've been 
dealing with for localization of FOSS software, there has 
been real concern about not being able to be represented as 
an entity in such 'About' dialogs, quite often only names of 
individuals are allowed. Some projects allow for this while 
other don't.
After all, those entities/organisations are sometimes 
supporting and/or paying for the translation effort.
The current situation also reduces the possibility of 
language teams to structure their workflow by pointing new 
translators towards their collaboration sites.
On the other hand it may also prevent groups and individuals 
from monopolizing translations of a given project, which 
happens all too often anyway.

So, I'm asking whether people here would oppose the 
possibility for language teams to include 
entities/organisations in the credits (and how it could be 
done in an appropriate manner) ?
