[Translators] methods for updating a translation ?

What is the preferred method these days for sending an updated translation file (.po) for an existing language ? (at least for the desktop version)

Post here a message with the file attached ? (as is ? .zip ? .7z ?)
Post here a message with a link to download the file from somewhere ?
Pull request on git with the file in question ?

I assume the current stable VLC version == Master branch on git (but I am not 100% sure on this)
