Version 0.1.99g of the VideoLAN Client (vlc) is out. This is quite
early a release, because a lot of important bugfixes and improvements
were done.
New in 0.1.99g :
* a 30 to 40% speed increase !! this was just done by fixing the
Makefile which had a bug and didn't include all the required
optimization flags for gcc (sam was sentenced to death for that).
* the synchronization algorithm can now be bypassed, if you client
wasn't displaying all images and still not taking 100% CPU you can
force it to display all images, or only half of them, for instance
(have a look at the --synchro option in the manpage).
* arbitrary scaling is now enabled by default (use `s' to toggle)
because a few people were reporting the vlc couldn't do it.
* the 32bpp MMX display function was fixed.
* the 8bpp display function was fixed as well: no more alpha blending,
and no more blocks problems when scaling.
* the Debian packages are now separated, with a core `vlc' package
only depending on X11, and the other packages depending on `vlc',
such as `vlc-gnome', `vlc-ggi', `vlc-esd'...
* as usual, there are source packages in tar.gz and tar.bz2 formats,
Debian GNU/Linux packages, and the SRPM and RPM for Linux i386.

Version 0.2 will be released when all "Critical" and "Important"
tasks have been done. There are still 11 of them to be done (4 have been
finished). A summary can be found at the bottom of the page.
Have a nice day.
