It's worth mentioning that 0.2.80 works fine, but 0.2.81 is broken.

I notice that there were several off_t variables changed to int variables.
My current idea is that there are long ints being put into ints and
causing some wrap-around or overflow problems.

I did a diff on the two archives, but there are 3000 lines of differences
and I'm not familiar enough with how the program actually works and is
organized to make a more intelligent comment.
