binary windows bug

The binary windows release of 0.3.0 doesn't start the gui on win2000. I've 
tried 2000 professional and 2000 TS. It works fine in wine though. I have not 
any of the others. On linux it fails to autodetect esd and crashes with:

INPUT_MAX_ALLOCATION reached (21037056)
Xlib: unexpected async reply (sequence 0x3fb7)!

if esd is running and vlc is started without --aout esd
