   The CVS snapshots from http://www.videolan.org/pub/vlc/snapshots/
have the bootstrap step already done, so as long as you do not touch
Makefiles or Module.am files, they'll work on any platform without the
need for autotools. Not acceptable for serious development, but it lets
you compile vlc at least.
