Sorry for the late reply,

No, libdv support is not necessary. Even though the libdv plugin we have 
still works fine, it is way too slow and doesn't even handle DV audio (only 
video). Considering that the ffmpeg plugin handles both DV video and audio 
and that it is a lot faster it is used by default.

So better not include the libdv plugin.
