Dear friends,

We would like people to test a new release of VLC, to help us debug
it before it is officially announced. The VideoLAN Client (vlc) is a
multi platform multimedia player that can read from network (UDP, RTP,
HTTP, ipv4 or ipv6), file or DVD. It supports multiple media formats
MPEG1/2 PS/TS, MP3, DivX, Mpeg4, OggVorbis codecs, etc. See the features
page for a full listing of what is currently supported under Familiar Linux:

    http://www.videolan.org/vlc/features.html

You can download binary packages for vlc_0.5.0_test3_arm.ipk (X11/GTK+)
and gpe-vlc_0.5.0_test1_arm.ipk (GPE) here :

    http://www.videolan.org/pub/videolan/testing/vlc-0.5.0-test3/armv4l

Or as ipkg feed on the following location:

    http://www.videolan.org/pub/videolan/vlc/ipkg-feed/armv4l

Binary versions are available for other platforms as well, see the
webpage at for more information:

    http://www.videolan.org/vlc

Please note that this is not an official release, it must not be
announced on websites or used in a production environment. It may
still contain major flaws, and the documentation is very, I mean,
_very_ outdated. The final 0.5.0 release will probably differ
slightly in terms of look and feel and features. 0.5.0-test3 fixes
some issues discovered in -test2, but not all, and has modifications
in the Familiar Linux, Mac OS X, Win32 and BeOS interfaces.

If you have bugs to report, please use our bugzilla interface :
    http://bugzilla.videolan.org/

Before reporting a bug, please check that it has not been already
reported, and include the full logs (obtained from the Messages
window, or starting vlc from the commandline with "vlc -vvvvvv" on
Familiar Linux). In case of a crash, we'd be delighted to have a gdb
backtrace.

Thanks for your help.

For the VLC team,
