based on Jasons 0.8.0-test rpm and the discussion on building Red Hat RPMs
I've created some 0.8.0 rpms for vlc on Red Hat 9, Red Hat Enterprise Linux
3 and Fedora Core 2.

They can be found at (i386 contains binary rpms, SRPMS source rpm):

Red Hat 9:

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3:

Fedora Core 2:

In these directories some more rpms can be found which are mostly from
freshrpms, Dag Wieers yum repository and Jasons vlc-binary.tar.gz from the vlc
0.8.0-test release. I built the libvcd, libcddb and libcdio rpms from source
rpm for all three platforms.

All three directories are yum enabled, meaning that
yum install vlc
will grab vlc and install it plus dependencies (if yum can resolve them).

For that purpose one needs an entry in /etc/yum.conf, which can look
like this for Fedora Core 2:

name=Fedora Core $releasever - $basearch - CAAD Extra RPMS

Red Hat 9 and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3 look likewise with different URLs of course.
