Some quick questions:
1) which libraries are currently used for the vlc corba module? what do they
depend on?
2) CORBA is an open standard, right? are there other libraries implementing
support for it (more portable ones perhaps?)?

btw, the need to define the api is one of my main points here, as well as
the lack of need to implement a protocol.
