Compiled with :

./configure --disable-mkv --program-prefix= --prefix=/usr
--exec-prefix=/usr --bindir=/usr/bin --sbindir=/usr/sbin
--sysconfdir=/etc --datadir=/usr/share --includedir=/usr/include
--libdir=/usr/lib --libexecdir=/usr/libexec --localstatedir=/var
--sharedstatedir=/usr/com --mandir=/usr/share/man
--infodir=/usr/share/info --enable-release --enable-dvdread
--enable-dvdplay --enable-dvbpsi --enable-v4l --enable-vcd --enable-mad
--enable-pp --enable-ffmpeg --with-ffmpeg=/usr --enable-faad
--enable-xvid --enable-dv --enable-flac --enable-theora --enable-x11
--enable-xvideo --enable-aa --without-wingdi --enable-oss --enable-esd
--enable-arts --enable-fribidi --enable-qt --enable-kde --enable-ncurses
--enable-xosd --enable-lirc --enable-pth --enable-plugins
--enable-fribidi --enable-livedotcom --enable-alsa --enable-slp
--with-ffmpeg-mp3lame --with-ffmpeg-faac
--with-livedotcom-tree=/usr/lib/live --enable-mozilla --enable-x264
--enable-twolame --enable-dirac --enable-vcdx --enable-tremor
--enable-tarkin --enable-svg --enable-caca --enable-screen
--enable-wxwidgets

Installed on my system are :

wxGTK-common-devel-2.4.2-7
wxGTK-2.4.2-7
wxGTK-gl-2.4.2-7
wxGTK-devel-2.4.2-7
wxGTK-xrc-2.4.2-7
wxGTK-stc-2.4.2-7
wxGTK-common-2.4.2-7

It creates modules/gui/wxwidgets/Makefile and configure ends with :

vlc configuration
--------------------
vlc version : 0.8.4-svn
system : linux
architecture : i686 mmx
build flavour : optim release
vlc aliases : svlc wxvlc

This installs /usr/lib/vlc/gui/libwxwidgets_plugin.so.

Again, this is the same routine I have always been following, so I
wouldn't be surprised it something obvious that is not setup correct on
my end :(.
