Compared installs between a PC where it does not work to a PC where the 
compiled VLC works fine I can not find anything odd. I had to remove the 
~/.vlc stuff on the working machine to get it to work... But it _did_ 
work :).

Made sure the wxGTK's where similar. On one machine, it works, on the 
other it does not. Using exactly the same ./configure

If I copy /usr/lib/vlc /usr/share/vlc /usr/bin/*vlc* from the machine 
where it works to the machine where it does not work, vlc still does not 
work...

Strace shows nothing that I can pick on. I'm perplexed :(.
