Last Opie release for VLC is number 0.6.0 and was for Familiar Linux
0.6.0 (0.7.x might also work). However Familiar Linux 0.8.x changed a
lot so I don't expect the vlc-0.6.0 packages to work well on this
version of familiar.

Compile from source is the best bet. Look at my examples in
ipkg/rules.opie which is a good starting point.
