Some more stuff
http://freshnews.com/news/computers-internet/article_21249.html
http://www.prweb.com/releases/2004/11/prweb183445.htm
http://www.divxnetworks.com/press/press_detail.php?pr_id=126
Also note the xvid files in the installer. I have no way to be sure
atm, but i very much suspect those are coming from the xvid.org windows
release. (the .ax is a directshow filter btw)
My suggestion is that we release a Press Release tomorrow and inform
several large websites (slashdot.org, xvid.org, groklaw.net,
freshnews.com, prweb.com, the FSF and OSI organisations at least) as
well as send it to Cinama On the Web and DivX Networks.
Stating that we suspect C.O.W. and *possibly* DivX networks might have
infringed on our sources and violated in several ways the GPL licensing
under which we release our code.
I also say this should be run by the VideoLAN lawyer at least by phone
before this is released and that we don't release it before we have
prepared our webserver.
If we can we should also make a list of possible violations. but that
one is open for discussion.
