Not really, sorry.
For testing purposes i used the linux kernel rss (http://kernel.org/kdist/rss.xml),
saved it to a local file and inserted some comments, PIs, CDATA, etc. at important positions in the file.
I put some debug outputs to xtag.c and started vlc with rss input from the modifed file.
(./vlc --sub-filter rss --rss-urls file:///tmp/rss.xml somemovie.mpg)
The NAMES and VALUES were the one i expected.

Here's a test example.
