This "ugly hack" allows source filter to work on operating systems that 
do not support IGMPv3/MLDv2, in particular Windows (and I suppose MacOS 
X), and in particular NOT Linux. That's the only way to filter out 
third party sources when the IP stack does not understand SSM joins.
