Thanks fenrir. Is this new api the one with ExecuteCommand() calls? Is it documented anywhere? I am trying to contribute, but am having kind of a tough time figuring out where to start. I can probably help fix more stuff if you give me some pointers. Thanks for all the help.

You are using private data and functions from input/vlm.c instead of
the new vlm_Control API and this is likely to fail (and harder to maintain)
I will try to port your patch to this API (and extend it if needed) and
commit it.
