Yes I more and more understand that. But I'm picking up from a PHD work were they try to define some standards for SIP and compare it with RTSP.So although there are no standards I have some base work to pick up but it does seems to be a great task in terms of programming...so I just don't if it worths the effort, although the work has already been assigned...

This is a bad idea, because there are no IETF standards right now for doing this. At present, the IETF standard protocol for IPTV/VOD-type service is RTSP (for setup and control) and RTP/RTCP (for data). Therefore, you should use RTSP/RTP/RTCP, as implemented already in VLC (and many other products).
There has been some talk - within the IETF - about possibly defining and standardizing some sort of hybrid protocol that combines SIP (for
setup) with RTSP (for control (including 'trick play')), and still using RTP/RTCP for data.
However, until this happens, it's definitely not something that you should try to fudge yourself.
