i'm not sure about having 2 sizes for low/high resolution screens, is it
really too difficult to read ? (i've 1024x768 and it looks fine, maybe
even too large)

i don't agree for a menu item to toggle between tree/flat modes, that
should go only in the preferences.
i'd like too to have one of the items on the left hand list preselected
(maybe the playlist since it's the only mandatory)

there is no rating system in vlc, at least for audio local files.
