For openSUSE, Novell told me they won't fix it (backporting 10.2) : 
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=329650#c1

glibc v2.7-20 comes in openSUSE factory. Maybe glibc will be upgraded before 
openSUSE 11 will be out.
