[vlc-devel] [RFC] --enable-fast-install for the release

Hello,

Libtool has this --{en,dis}able-fast-install option which is logically
set to disable in the git tree as developpers mainly run vlc from their
build tree and seldomly "make install".

This option is normally only an optimisation so people who don't know it
should only loose CPU time.
Except that there is a bug if it's used at the same time as DESTDIR=
(I haven't yet had time to find out if it's a libtool bug or the way we
use it. Libtool doc claims --inst-prefix get added automagically when
needed)

Considering that people building from the tarball will imho mainly "make
install" , I was considering reverting to  enable-fast-install.
Do people have opinions on that ?
