[vlc-devel] [RFC] Future of 0.8.6

	Hello,

Considering the already sorry state of the over-aging 0.8.6 branch, I would 
expect that we just drop it completely once 0.9.0 is out. That is to say real 
soon now (ahem). That would mean no security, critical bugfixes neither 
contrib updates from us.

That being noted, this would be quite inconsistent with the following 
statement (verbatim from 0.9.0 NEWS):

 * This version of VLC contains a new interface for Windows and Linux.
   This interface has a fullscreen controller. This interface lacks the
   "Streaming Wizard" that used to be present in VLC 0.8.6.
   If you absolutely need it, we advise you to keep VLC 0.8.6.

So?
