[vlc-devel] [vlc .9] Why GTK is disabled in Debian nightly builds

I'm sorry If this is not the right place for this question .

I've noticed that Debian vlc .9 packages are built lately with
(--disable-gtk) . That means wxWIDGETS UI is no longer available .
Noticing that the packages still depends on GTK , why this configuration
was chosen ?

Did the maintainer personally chosoe to --disable-gtk as a default build
configuration ? Or that was a developers' decision  ?
Is GTK causing a lot of problems and the developers are no longer
satisfied with it ?
Shall we expect GTK support to be dropped completely on  the future  ?
