I think that their is 2 issues with #2720:
 * with an empy ML and one item in the PL, deleting the item (vlc will
continue to play it, which is a bug) and then asking vlc to play, will play the
removed item.
 * with items in the ML and one in the PL, deleting the item in the PL
(vlc will stop to play it, which is good) and then asking vlc to play will play
the removed item.

I have an ugly HACK to fix the first aspect of this ticket but I really
don't have any idea about a real fix nor a HACK for the second part.
