Sounds like this was ground covered before. Poking around, there was some
mention in the commit-archives around Dec-2008 regarding darwin support,
is there a good discussion thread on this list I should read on this
matter of thread cancellation? or even rationale for this approach?
I don't suppose building the less-native gtk version of VLC on the Mac
would be any easier because of this thread issue?
