[vlc-devel] 1.0+ for powerpc-apple-darwin8?

VLC 1.0 uses thread cancellation, something not properly supported  
with the older compilers of Apple. VLC 1.0 can probably be compiled  
quite easily for 10.4.11, but the product won't actually work (freeze  
and get stuck at moments where it should not). The newer compiler  
versions require 10.5. I don't see a way around this, unless you dive  
deep and create a full alternative to thread cancellation in the VLC  
core.
