Eventually my targets are Safari 32, 64, Chrome, and FFx 2.0+, on
Mac/Linux/Win.  Safari 64 is the one that requires the most work, and
it's the one that just doesn't work in older versions of VLC, so
therefore that's the one I'm testing with right now.
