Objection. Which "new one to switch to" API are you talking about? The
one which has still been changed yesterday? The MediaControl API may be
ugly and incomplete, but at least it has been stable for the last 4
years (at least). In the meantime, multiple other APIs have been
proposed, LibVLC has been implemented, has undergone multiple revisions,
and is still in a flux.

I agree that at some time, it could go away. But before that, it should
be explicitly marked as Deprecated, and even before that, a stable
alternative should exist, which LibVLC is not yet IMHO.

Note that all developers that use VLC are not necessarily VLC-developers
who are interesting in tracking each and every change in the player.  By
saying "I am getting tired of having to hack it every time LibVLC is
changed.", you are trying to put the burden of accommodating the libvlc
unstable nature onto the other developers.
