The UI itself is currently being evaluated for redesign since November.

Playlist as a list of URI, and all URI choosen from a source.
Every saved playlist (file, m3u) is also a source. Importing them is just 
merging with the internal 'now playing' playlist (which in my opinion needs 
renaming to avoid confusions).
At the end, every open/source dialog is to be replaced by the "media sources" 
dialog (as every other dialog would just end providing duplicate 
functionalities, and there's currently too many 'confusing' ways to add 
to/alter the internal playlist).
