Concerning the first series... I merged all but the VLC_FEATURE stuff and the
maintainer mode change.
I believe the maintainer mode cleanup would require automake 1.11. VLC
currently requires version 1.9. We *could* switch to automake 1.11. We would
get colored tests and LZMA compression also. But this requires:
- setting the proper dependency in AUTOMAKE_OPTIONS,
- agreeing with the main developers (not just me).
As for the VLC_FEATURE stuff, I don't really understand the concept. As far as
I remember the autoconf documentation, enable_* variables are supposed to be
accessed directly, no? There also seems to be a problem with some default
values. The patchset unexpectedly disabled VLM in my VLC tree.
