I guess it's the same reason. Look at the config log at the vlc root
directory and find the exact problem. The contrib. compiles with
different compiler/SDK/linker/whatever.... Yet, I don't understand why
because I am exporting the manually the compiler type according to the
wiki before compiling the contrib. and the vlc code.

Running OS X 10.6 i386 I was able to configure fine however I'm running
into troubles actually compiling. It seems that libiconv.la is missing?
According to the Wiki the makefile in extras/contrib will fix this
automatically... but it didn't seem to.... Could I be missing something?
I performed the steps outline in the wiki pretty much verbatim.
Thanks!

p.s. I apologize if this is the wrong place for this sort of thing!

Hello,
I am following the OSXCompile procedure on the VLC wiki and try
to compile VLC on MAC OSX 10.6 (Intel platform). The contrib. part went
well and so is the bootstrap on the VLC. When I run the './configure' I
am getting the following error: "/..../extras/contrib/lib/libmad.dylib,
file is not of the required architecture.
I am not using the x86_64... flag since I am building for 32 bit
platform (but either way it fails).
What version are you trying to build?
Pierre.
