Thanks Remi! FYI I did find a ppa that has 1.1 and am going to see if I can find all the so's to create a jar. I found the plugin folders but not the lbvlc and libvlccore so's yet. I am assuming the linux builds still follow the same names generally for those libraries.
I am trying to follow your previous suggestion and use the vlc 1.1 libraries. I am also trying to get a linux build for the desktop and I am starting with Ubuntu and then the Mac. The real challenge for me is getting all the libraries for those OS's from one convenient up to date location. I have not tried getting the Mac libraries yet.
