FYI, a "cleaner" fix involves

	unsetenv ("QT_PLUGIN_PATH");

before starting libvlc. But this makes VLC ugly (reminiscent of Wx 2.4, in my 
opinion).

And with that said, don't forget to vote for KDE bug #234484.
