Ah, I used to use Amarok back when it was version 1.4, but didn't recall

If that's ok, I might be interested, as this could improve the user
experience.

Would you have a rough idea of which modules would need looking at?

We would also need to spec this a bit - e.g. the data delivery
mechanism, format, and destination. A good destination is probably
videolan.org, but at least protocol, port, and data format.

Obviously, the server needs some software to receive the data, too.
Maybe a small cgi for the existing web server, and HTTP POST from the
client?

And of course, we don't want this to introduce extra dependencies on the
client end, so the client should preferably use the existing network
code in VLC, if it has the required functionality in one form or another.

Hmm, sounds like this may take a while ;)
