Dear Francois,
Thank you for replying. Here are the reasons why I would like to make this
program for VLC:

1)Well, to make a standalone app on android, windows, iPhone one needs to
know how to do programming in those operating systems. I don't know how to
make an app on android or windows at present. But, I am ready to learn.

2)Making a general program to control different softwares via gesture
recognition is quite difficult. It will also take a lot of time. So, why not
first make it for VLC, then get a feedback. Make further improvements, then
make a general one. So, its like one step at a time.

3)VLC is one of the most widely used application over the world. So, if I
make the gesture recognition program for VLC and it goes a hit, then the
general version of the program will in turn also be a hit. But , if I make a
general version first, what is the guarantee people will use it? How will I
get the funding to do marketing?

4)Well very few open source softwares or applications have been associated
with Gesture Recognition. So wouldn't it be great if VLC were the first to
introduce it on a mass scale.

5)I just love VLC.

So, I request you to give me a chance to develop this program for VLC under
Gsoc 2011. I promise I will work hard day and night to make this happen.

Please let me know your views about this. Whether I can do this task for VLC
under Gsoc 11 or not?

Regards,
Jayneil.
