We definitely do need continuous stable builds. But the fact is, they have
been broken for months, and nobody cared to fixed them.

For this, we'd first need to have truly reproducible builds, and in
particular fixed contribs and toolchains. This has been a bigger problem in
practice than keeping the stable tree buildable.
