I think it would be very useful to have some generic functionality to
advertise stuff over bonjour (avahai,zeroconf,whatever).
for example, I'd really like to be able to advertise the http
interface over bonjour to facilitate discovery/pairing.

Akash tried to get this working over the summer, but never managed to
compile with Avahai.

I have no idea whether lua is the right place for it. But there are
certainly people on this list or on IRC who can point you in the right
direction.
