The moment I sent my response it passed through my head I had to wright
something like:

"I know that support for older versions cannot last forever"... maybe mention
something like gcc 2.x and that "this is clearly not the case, to drop on
samba3 in ubuntu/debian..."

Just as a precaution from response from you that I'm replying. :)

Remi, you are good in debating, but this time you are wrong.

Also, now I know why j-b said he wont send this revert to ML.
