the Gentoo problem i had with the menu's.
If this is a problem on (some) windows versions as well, then something =
definetly needs to be done to fix this in some sort of way. It truly is =
a BIG problem if this is the case.

What version of Win32 are you testing this yourself?

  Subject: [vlc] Request from <thedj>>

I submit the enclosed progress report pursuant to the chat I had with =
<thedj> on May 29,2003 at 7:30pm EST.

I recently downloaded the VLC Media Player 0.6.0-Test2 and found that =
it lacked some of the basic functions your earlier VLC(Win 32 Interface) =
possessed. (My operating system is Windows XP Professional.)=20

I discovered the omission following an attempt to play a film that =
purportedly contains an audio feed in two languages and allows the =
viewer to switch back between English and French. Your earlier =
VLC(Win32 Interface) enabled me to perform this function very easily. I =
merely clicked on the "CONTROLS" scroll-down menu and selected the =
"Language" option. Moreover, I could go to the "FILE" menu and very =
simply scroll down and choose "Subtitles" if the film audio provided for =
a single language but nonetheless included subtitles in multiple =
languages.

The problem I described to <thedj> is as follows. On the new VLC =
Media Player 0.6.0-test2, neither the "subtitle" nor the "language" =
options appear to exist. In fact, on the "AUDIO", "VIDEO", and =
"NAVIGATION" scroll down menus, NO options seem to exist at all. The =
scroll reveals a gray "Empty" option only. If the "language" and =
"subtitles" options do, in fact, exist in the 0.6.0-test2 version, I =
have as of yet been unsuccessful in locating them.

I hope my findings and feedback will assist you in your tinkering and =
your research. Please feel free to E-mail me if you have any other =
questions or would like me to test other features. Given my =
satisfaction with the VLC thus far, I feel it's the least I can do.

  Sincerely,
  David Kepesh =20
